Remote Filmmaking: The Game-Changer Your Ad Agency or Studio Needs

For production companies and advertising agencies laser-focused on maximizing ROI without sacrificing creative impact, remote filmmaking presents a game-changing paradigm. In a nutshell, partnering with a production company like Atmosphera Productions, and having us create your content in Portugal and Spain, will allow you to meet and exceed client expectations while saving your bottom line.

This approach frees up significant resources to invest directly back into compelling narratives and high-quality visuals. Remote workflows foster agile decision-making and rapid execution, translating to quicker campaign launches and a faster path to achieving your clients' marketing objectives, all while maintaining complete confidence in a stellar final product.

Let’s break down how it works into the three main phases of a project: pre-production, production, and post-production

Pre-production: Meetings, planning, creative work

Whether you’re a large film studio or a creative agency with a branding mission from your client, we begin by meeting online and getting to know each other, Atmosphera gets to know your project and project scopes are defined. Once the creative is underway we use project management software that both our teams have access to. This helps to establish responsibilities, dependencies and requirements.

As your project moves into the creative stage we use our secure online proofing platform to share storyboards, scripts, wardrobe, locations scouts, talent choices and more. Your team is encouraged to ask questions, make suggestions and request changes.

For large projects requiring local permits, Atmosphera Productions does the legwork and documentation needed to line things up.

Production: Filming, acting, locations, and scenes

We understand that you want to know how it’s going once the plan is in action and cameras are rolling. An ad agency that needs a spec lifestyle ad for their client wants to know that the images we’re making are spot-on, and exactly what’s expected. That’s why we employ a remote video village during filming. You’re practically with us as we go through the process of capturing images on film (or memory cards). Direct communication between your team and our production team is instantaneous and we make sure you’re good with the outcomes from moment to moment.

If you prefer to be here with us we have great news. You can send some select members from your team to join us and still protect your bottom line. Add on a few days to see Portugal and Spain and make it a ‘workcation’. Through our partnership with RuaMar, a luxury experiences company, it’s easy to connect you to places, foods, accommodations and things to do that you would never experience by staying at your home base.

Post-production: Finishing, editing, polishing, delivery

In this phase it’s vitally important that all the work that came before is handled as carefully as during the first two phases. That’s why Atmosphera Productions uses remote proofing tools to make sure you know exactly how everything is looking. We use a secure on-line portal to upload your videos for your team to see. You can make comments, request changes and approve finals. Online meetings continue in this phase to make sure you’re comfortable with the entire process.

Our clients typically fall into two camps at this point. The first is the client that wants to see all the takes we have so they can share with their team for global feedback. In that case, we’ll upload all the good takes for you to see. The second is the client who wants us to put together a “rough cut” of the project (trusting that we’re all aware of the best takes from the shoot) and from there we move into color grading, audio and exposure balancing, adding music and more.

FAQs About Moving Your Production to Portugal and Spain

Q: What is the talent pool for actors, actresses and models? It’s really fantastic. We have access through our partnerships to people of all ages, sexes, ethnicities, looks and languages. It’s just like NYC, Georgia, LA, Paris, Berlin, etc. Whether you need someone for a film or someone for a product or lifestyle video we have you covered.

Q: What kind of outdoor locations are available? There are amazing locations all over the place. From the ocean and coast, to the desert-like scrub brush landscape of the Alentejo in Portugal. And from the cork tree forests to the pine and eucalyptus forests. There are also places that look like the American Southwest. Mountain and coastal roads, little villages and modern cityscapes, river valleys and lagoons, and mountains in the national parks are all available. We can find almost any type of background you need. See just a few examples here.

Q: We want to shoot in a studio. Is that possible? Absolutely. There are modern studios for brand shoots as well as large, professional sound stages for larger productions.

Q: If someone from our team comes to supervise a shoot do we need to worry about visas? Nope. If you’re visiting from the United States you can be here for 90 days with just your passport. Other countries outside of the European Union have their own rules about length-of-stay here.

Q: What type of production services does Atmosphera Productions provide? We provide full-service production. That means we can execute on your entire vision from planning, shooting and editing to merely filming for you and delivering the raw files.
